25 Years of .com

25 Years of .com

25th Anniversary of .comIt’s surprising to think that the .com is 25 years old this year. The history is interesting even for non geeks but one thing is certain; the .com Top Level Domain (TLD) was the brand behind what most people call ‘the internet’ today.

Once the boom began to kick off Fortune 500′s spent millions rebranding to whatever.com and a few years later millions more rebranding back again when it became tacky.

Today, securing your favourite .com name is more than likely going to be impossible as there are over 80 million .coms in existance.

An IE domain name on the other hand is far less crowded, register yours today. ;)

Getting flash to work with iphone

June 3, 2010 by Web Stories · Leave a Comment

For those interested in such things it’s pretty much accepted that Apple have little interest in getting Flash to work on the iphone. Whatever the reason, commercial or technical (I’m guessing commercial) Apple has made it clear that they do not plan on supporting it, instead focusing on HTML5.

“Someone has it backwards — it is HTML5, CSS, JavaScript and H.264 (all supported by the iPhone and iPad) that are open and standard, while Adobe’s Flash is closed and proprietary,” an Apple representative said in a statement provided to CNET.

All is not lost.

Fortunately Smokescreen.us, an opensource initiative to create a flash player using javascript has arrived. It’s early days but very promising.
